The issues

Opioids

Since returning to the legislature, John has been an outspoken advocate for the restoration of local government funds. These funds are an integral piece of giving our cities the resources they need to fight the opioid epidemic in our communities. Additionally, he believes that the state should be investing in treatment facilities and fair sentencing laws to make sure we are treating addiction, while punishing those who bring these drugs into our communities. This includes regulating industries and pharmaceutical companies who have made these drugs pervasive in our society.

Jobs

Retaining and recruiting good paying jobs is a key component to making the Valley stronger. John has advocated for keeping companies in the Valley including promoting General Motors and Lordstown keeping production up and running. In addition, he has worked to support expanding the small business incubators in Youngstown, making sure home-grown businesses have the ability to grow. Finally, he has facilitated the expansion of trade schools and job training facilities to ensure that the workforce is prepared for all job opportunities.

Healthcare

John knows that access to affordable healthcare is fundamental to financial security and the well-being of our families. He has advocated for the continuation of Medicaid expansion in Ohio making sure that families do not incur life altering debt while fighting to save a life. John will work to expand preventative care services to decrease the overall costs of care. He encourages well visits and healthy life style promotion ultimately decreasing the burden on the healthcare system.

Veterans

As an Air Force reservist, John understands the sacrifices our Veterans have made for our Country and believes firmly in making sure that their contributions are reflected in the policies made by our state. He has advocated for expanded job training and placement services for our Veterans. He also knows that the Youngstown Air Reserve Station is the third largest employer in the region and that cuts to government funding of military operations are contrary to the strength of the Valley and he will continue to advocate for that spending to be directed to the existing resources in the region.
